Evergreen Credit Union Opens New Eco-Friendly Windham Branch

Evergreen Credit Union’s new Windham branch is now open, replacing a smaller facility once located on the same Route 302 property. The branch is full service, open 6 days a week and closed Sundays.

The construction is LEED-certified, mandating many design features that make the building more sustainable and energy efficient. For example, the climate control system uses a stable underground temperature of approximately 50 degrees to maintain a comfortable branch environment year-round. A system extracts ground heat in winter to help warm the building. In the summer, and it then reverses the process by moving heat from the branch into the ground, and returning cooler temperatures to the building.

Lighting that uses less energy, fixtures that reduce daily water consumption and use of non-toxic or recycled materials are among several innovations enabling the building and staff to better conserve natural resources.

Anyone who lives, works or worships in Cumberland County is welcome to bank at this new branch. Evergreen Credit Union is one of Maine’s largest credit unions and offers mortgage, consumer, and business services throughout Cumberland County, with additional branches in Naples, Portland and South Portland.
