Evergreen Credit Union Celebrates 75th Anniversary

January 1, 2026, marked Evergreen Credit Union’s 75th anniversary serving communities in southern Maine. Since 1951, Evergreen has provided financial opportunities to families, individuals, and businesses in Maine’s 6 southernmost counties.

Evergreen Credit Union was originally founded as S.D. Warren Credit Union in Westbrook, ME, serving the S.D. Warren Paper Mill’s workers and families. In 1999, they established their headquarters on Riverside St. in Portland (one mile from their founding Westbrook branch) and renamed to Evergreen Credit Union to represent their growing membership.

“Our history is rooted here in southern Maine,” said Jason Lindstrom, Evergreen’s President/CEO. “We wouldn’t be where we are without the Mainers who trust us with their financial lives.”

Evergreen Credit Union (over $625 million in assets) has five retail branches and one commercial lending branch in Cumberland County. They serve over 32,000 members who live, work, study, worship, or have immediate family members in York, Cumberland, Oxford, Androscoggin, Lincoln, and Sagadahoc Counties in southern Maine.
